Breast Cancer Walk
Breast Cancer Walk
Ankle & Foot Centers of America is proud to participate in the Annual “Its’ The Journey” Atlanta 2-Day Breast Cancer Walk. 2012 marked their 10th year Anniversary and our volunteers had a blast! We look forward towards participating every year!
Our podiatrists and team at Ankle & Foot Centers of America volunteer to work alongside with “Its the Journey” Organization (Atlanta 2-day Breast Cancer Walk) to take part in this exciting adventure to cure breast cancer!
In 1970, 500 athletes gathered at a suburban Atlanta college to participate in the track and field event held under the Special Olympics Georgia banner. Over the past 40 years, the organization has grown exponentially and has helped thousands of children and adults in the process. The number of active athletes has grown to 22,769, participating in 23 sports.
Ankle & Foot Centers of America was the only Foot and Ankle specialist providing free evaluations and treatment recommendations for the athletes and were proud to provide their expertise to the Olympians upon the request of the health leadership team of the Special Olympics.
Lead by Staff Podiatrists Dr. Ketan Patel, Dr. Joseph D. Giovinco, Dr. W. Kevin Pearson and their team of medical staff, they were able to conduct over 30 full evaluations and consultations. Deformities such as flat feet, lower leg misalignments, bunions, hammertoes and various conditions such as plantar fasciitis, diabetes, Achilles tendon disorders and sports overuse syndromes were addressed. The athletes were informed of treatment plans and referrals for follow-up care were given.
Ankle & Foot Centers of America is proud to say that we are “keeping your life in motion!!!” for these exceptional individuals and athletes.
